What to Write on a Flower Card

What to Write on a Flower Card

After choosing the flowers, the next question is what to write in the card… and suddenly you're staring at a blinking cursor, wondering what to say. You're not alone; it's a common thing we get asked about. Here's a guide to help, from quick classics to something more personal.

Classic Messages

Sometimes short and sweet is exactly right. A few favourites:

Birthday: "Happy birthday! Hope your day is as bright as these flowers." or "Wishing you a wonderful year ahead."

Thank you: "A little something to say a big thank you." or "So grateful for you."

Love and anniversaries: "Still choosing you, every day." or "Happy anniversary, here's to us."

Get well: "Sending sunshine and speedy healing your way." or "Thinking of you and hoping you're feeling better soon."

New baby: "Welcome to the world little one!" or "Congratulations on your beautiful new arrival."

Just because: "Saw these and thought of you." or "No reason, just because you're you."

Always sign off with your name. It sounds obvious, but we see plenty of cards that forget!

Why Personal Messages Are Becoming More Popular

We've noticed a shift. More people are writing longer, more heartfelt notes: a shared memory, an inside joke, a few lines about what that person means to them. Flowers say a lot, but they don't last forever, and the words are often what gets kept long after. (If you'd like your flowers to last as long as possible, here's how to care for your bouquet at home.)

If you're not sure where to start, try this simple formula: what's happening + how you feel + a wish for them. For example: "Congratulations on the new job! I'm so proud of how hard you've worked for this. Enjoy every minute."

When the Little Card Isn't Big Enough

A standard florist card only fits a line or two. If you've got more to say, choose one of our larger cards when you order. They have plenty of room for a proper message, and we've recently added a new range of fun designs to choose from.

Handwritten and Private

Every message is handwritten by us and placed in an envelope, never left open on the bouquet. What you write stays between you and the person receiving it, whether it's a simple "happy birthday" or something you've never said out loud before.

Just type your message at checkout and we'll take care of the rest, delivered with your flowers by your local florist across Rangiora, Kaiapoi, Woodend and North Canterbury.

Until next time,

Laura
